🎤IN ALYSSA’S WORDS...

When Gina first contacted me about the skirt I was excited. I’ve owned a photo booth rental company in PA since 2009 and know all of the best vendors, makeup artists, and photographers. I planned for my friend to take the photos, then everything turned upside down. Events were canceled, 2020 happened, and my husband was offered a job in TX that we couldn’t say no to given the circumstances.

When it was my turn to get the skirt I had some anxiety knowing it was coming. I don’t know Austin very well and I don’t know anyone here, so it was up to my husband to help with photos. I think he did a good job!

My motto has always been “figure it out.” We wanted a photo booth for our wedding but no one outside of large cities did them at the time, so we figured it out. That led to leaving my full time job and starting my photo booth company. I needed a job to fill in the slow winter months so I started a successful wedding shop on Etsy. Then a theme park inspired shop, and now I’m back to the part where I have to figure it out. I don’t know what I want to do and I feel lost in a new place.

Lately I’ve related more to black than the rainbow but I know the rainbow is coming. It always does. It would be easy to write about some of the cool opportunities I’ve had because of my business, or some of the things I’ve created along the way, but that’s not my current reality and it’s important for me to be honest. We see too many perfect lives on social media and I don’t want to contribute to a false narrative. I know I’ll find my way eventually… I’m just trying to figure things out in the meantime.

About Alyssa…

NOTE FROM GINA: Alyssa’s bio and story are the same. When I opened her email and read her words they read like the bio was the story and the story was the bio. So I asked Alyssa if I could post them on the introduction post and her story post, and she said yes. I love that her story seems to be both!
