🎤IN JENNA’S WORDS...

When I first saw the skirt floating around the internet, I knew that I NEEDED it in my life! When I saw the opportunity to join a sisterhood of women wearing and sharing the skirt, I knew I had to join them. As a person who’s always looking for the rainbow on a cloudy day, this movement really spoke to me.

The past year has been difficult for everyone, myself included. Being cut off from friends, family and my amazing clients was rough. Finding those rainbows amongst the clouds has been tough.

The “positive one” persona was something I put on myself. Always wanting to always see the bright side, put on a good face and stuff the yucky feelings away.  But that only works for so long, and is extra hard in a global pandemic.

Luckily I have amazing friends with even better group chats that helped me through the past year. It wasn’t until one of those friends mentioned a term “toxic positivity” that I really broke down. I let it all out. It turns out trying so hard to constantly be positive it was actually making things worse for me.

It’s only in the darkness that we can appreciate the light. That’s what the “tears” and the rain mean to me.  We can try and be positive at all times, but it can be exhausting. To truly appreciate the rainbows we must also appreciate the rain or “tears.” It makes us stronger, more empathic to each other and most importantly makes us appreciate the rainbows that much more.
